This tea bowl is decorated with noshi, an auspicious decorative motifs in overglaze enamels. The transparent glaze with a subtle yellow tint, newly developed by the seventh-generation Kosai, creates a harmony and contrast with the overglaze decoration not seen before.
The softly yellow-toned body also draws upon materials historically associated with Ninsei. The work was created with the intention of expressing the aesthetic world of Ninsei’s polychrome ceramics in a contemporary context.
